Developing a juicing habit is a good thing to do any time. In terms of health, the benefits of drinking fruit and vegetable juice far outweigh the cons and can provide a great boost to your overall wellbeing. The benefits range from improving your digestive health to increasing your body’s ability to repair itself and bolstering your immune system.
However, as with any new routine, sticking to your juicing habit can be hard. Below are 8 tips to help make juicing daily simple, so it becomes a part of your daily routine for years to come.

1. Get organized
One of the most common mistakes people make when starting a juicing lifestyle is failing to account for the extra effort. It’s not a lot, but there is a bit of extra stuff to do.  This requires a bit of forward planning and getting organized.  That way, it is much easier to include juicing in your daily routine. Here are a few ways to get organised:

Prep ahead of time.  It is important that your ingredients are washed and cut to the right size for your machine.  Most people don’t have the time to do this in the morning, so consider prepping the night before. It might even suit you better to prep a few days ahead.  Work out a schedule that suits your lifestyle.

Prep in bulk.  This is a great time saver.  Chop all your veggies and fruit in one session, put them in containers and store.  Even better, go one step further and batch up the fruit and veg for each juicing session.  Then it is as easy as grabbing a single container or packet to start juicing.

Allow time for juicing.  Even if you’re prepping like a boss, you still need to get up, make the juice and clean the machine.  Make sure you wake up a few minutes earlier to give yourself more time in the morning to do this and keep the process as stress-free as possible.

2. Stock up with the right ingredients
Another pitfall that can lead a ‘newbie’ juicer to abandon the whole process is a simple lack of ingredients. If you’re all ready to make your juice, but you don’t have the right ingredients on hand, it’s just not going to happen.

As a good starting point, make sure you keep a fresh supply of fruits and vegetables in your fridge.  Work out what you need ahead of time and stock up before you plan to juice.   Don’t make a lack of ingredients the reason not to juice.  They are readily available, you just need to plan and stock up.

3. Make tasty juices
Make sure you choose ingredients that are both easy to juice and that you enjoy. Even though kale is loaded with nutrients, you’re unlikely to stick to juicing if you hate the taste.  There are many tasty additions that can help mask the taste of kale, so experiment with different recipes that allow you to get all the nutrients and enjoy the juice.
Apples, lemons, limes, grapefruits, pears, and ginger are all great additions to make the primary stars, like spinach, kale or broccoli taste great in your juice.
It is also important to realize that you might just have to get used to the taste of vegetables.  Plenty have done it before you and and it is part of changing to a healthy juicing lifestyle.

4. Invest in a quality juicer
This simply makes the process of juicing easier and the end product a lot more enjoyable.  A poor quality juicer can result in a juice full of large chunks – not what you want.  Juicing is about having a healthy drink, not something you need to still chew.
Cheap juicers are also more prone to breaking and clogging.  They often don’t have the longevity of better quality machines and can stop the juicing habit before it really gets started.
However, there is no need to spend a fortune on a juicer, as some high-end models also come with issues. Do your homework, read reviews and identify the machine in your price range with the largest number of happy owners.

5. Understand your calories
As great as juices are for your health, they’re no replacement for actual fruits and vegetables. Many people new to juicing attempt to substitute complete meals with a juice blend.  Juices alone don’t have the appropriate number of calories to keep you fueled all day.
Similarly, many people find that drinking fruits and vegetables is not as satisfying as eating them, which can lead to feelings of hunger. If you’re hungry, understand that you still need other sources of calories.  Don’t give up on juicing but instead focus on drinking juices as a snack or meal supplement.

6. Juice and store
Juice keeps well for about 3 days.  While the color may change you can store your juice and save time by making batches ahead of time.
Buy an airtight container to store your juice and make the whole juicing thing much easier.
7. Watch your sugar intake
When you get started with juicing, take care to avoid weight gain or sugar overload.  This will quickly turn you off juicing!  Don’t go overboard with the fruit and make your juices primarily from vegetables.
Fruit is very high in sugar, and you can easily go into calorie and sugar overload with just a couple of glasses a day which negates the whole reason for juicing.  Choose low sugar fruits, like apples and berries and use them in moderation.

8. Buy a portable container
The beauty of juices is they can easily be consumed whether you want to take the time to sit and sip or if you are on the go.  Making it easy to drink your juice in any situation will ensure you build the habit into your routine.
Purchase a thermos or other portable container so you can take your juice with you wherever you go.  This way, drinking your juice can easily become part of your daily activities. In addition, you can make your juice in the morning and take it with you to work (or play) to drink later.

Conclusion
While starting a juicing routine has many great benefits, if you don’t take the time to plan and get organized in advance, your best intentions may fall by the wayside.  Juicing is not difficult, but there is some preparation required for ingredients and equipment.

Focus on identifying the biggest issues you face each day to making the juicing habit stick.  Use the list above to help develop methods to overcome these issues and in no time you will be easily juicing up a storm daily.
